Born Darrell Thomas, and representing South Street, Portsmouth, Virginia by way of Dayton, Ohio, yTank emerged from a life of chaos and hardship. Growing up, he witnessed his mother juggle three jobs just to keep the lights on—a grind that left a lasting impression. Feeling powerless to change his family’s circumstances, yTank often found himself in trouble, acting out the frustration that boiled beneath the surface.

But from the turbulence came clarity. Music became his outlet, his therapy, and eventually his purpose. What began as raw emotion turned into art, and yTank carried that energy from gritty street battles to talent show stages, from makeshift studios to polished tracks. With every bar and every beat, he carved a path out of the struggle—rising to stand shoulder to shoulder with the elite in his craft.
